Two days ahead of the withdrawal of the US troops from the Iraqi cities, Iraqis live an amalgam of feelings combining pride on one hand and challenge on the other. The challenge of how to handle the situation in face of a promising secure and prosper future that seems to loom after years of distress and agony. In this context, during an interview with Alsumaria TV, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki called all the Iraqis to support the Iraqi national forces and to trust their capacities. Maliki stressed that Iraq will accept nothing less than the full implementation of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). To that, Maliki said that the endorsement of Kurdistan constitution is an inappropriate step and called Kurdish authorities to draw it back. Iraq will never thrive to become a strong country unless it has a strong central government, PM uttered.
Furthermore, Maliki stressed that Baath dissolved party has no place in the political process adding that this party is not invited to take part in the national reconciliation.
Iraq PM uttered that he launched “Charge of the Knights” operation against financial and administrative corruption in the government directories and administrations stressing that the political corruption constitutes the door to financial and administrative degeneracy. Maliki appealed to put an end to the external middling in the Iraqi issues and urged Iraqi parties not to adopt external agendas.
